My room

Classroom is almost done. My sister made these curtains for me. My friends sent me pictures along with my own for the bulliten board. Lesson plans are close to finished.

It is good and I think I could actually be ready for the first student next week!

Your room looks GREAT!!! I love the fabric on the bulletin board idea....

Hmmmmm, wondering if I can find some at the thrift store for my bulletin board....

That said, I am more than a little nervous about my new position. Middle school age is NOT my best age group to work with, and 3 of my classes will be BD classes (kids with ODD, severe ADHD and anger management issues)... any tips for working with these kids?

The key is space. I found BD had a much bigger personal space than most others. If they gain on your space- they want something. If you enter theirs- be careful. Never work face to face- always to the side. The temptation to lash out is much less and you no longer appear to be an authoritarian threat- just a useful partner. Last, give few directions ( just the opposite than what I am doing-lol). Be clear and precise. Think for a minute before launching into the regular words. IT seemed to me that most only had a limited number of words that they could hear and after that- frustration reigned. I only used my deep voice for statigic commands "Sit","Quiet", "move"
and only in danger....
Thaks for the compliment on the fabric. I used to buy all of mine on the dollar table at Walmart. I just found this when I traveled this summer.
How about your class on line?

Thank you. I did realize today that everything is blue...opps!

Isn't blue supposed to encourage calm and clear thinking? :-D Don't worry about it.

And thank you so much for the advice!
