Yes, the market IS up

So many lamented after the crash- but I haven't heard much since the market has gone up. Maybe it doesn't work for some people politically- that the economy is starting to roll.
Yes, housing is a mess. It was made a mess by people who financed way above their means. You COULD blame it on the banks- but how about a bit of personal responsibility here? We rented for ten years, why not them?
And if you CHOOSE to live in a union state, I have no sorrow that your particular place may never recover. Although unions were good in the past- they have grown out of control.
I am starting to follow the financial philosopher. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Personally, I am happy to be in the market and watch my meager retirement grow. My hubby turns 60 this year and we plan on living frugally fun for a very long time.

I don't care how he signed it

I care that he did sign it.

"WASHINGTON (March 24) -- Anything but jubilant, President Barack Obama awkwardly kept a promise today he made to ensure passage of historic health care legislation, pledging the administration would not allow federal funds to pay for elective abortions covered by private insurance."
That is why I have a Republican congressman- who has the legislative things in order.
The poor (and those of us who find ourselves or our adult children unemployed) get covered and babies are still taken care of. I am especially excited about the new funding for women who are pregnant.
Maybe they shouldn't be covered? They got themselves into that situation? They are poor- why should we care?
Hope those so opposed never avail themselves of the money or care (or their adult children). That is the only way to actually prove you think it is wrong. Of course if something should go wrong- it is there for you anyway.

What does it mean to be a Christian?

Just wondering your thoughts on social justice....

Home

Driving into the setting sun - with its pinks and purples. Rounding the bend at the Flint Hills. Passing the only store for miles- Walmart. The slight moon shining on the Republican River. The dogs in the window. A good night's sleep.
Home.

Sitting in an apartment.

I had forgotten what this felt like. Having a non mom life for about seven years, sitting and waiting for someone to get off work before the next thing happens is crazy. The sun is outstanding today- very unusual for the Pacific Northwest. Unfortunately, duty calls and ds does not know how many hours he is working. I could clean his apartment---naaa. Hummmm.

Spring Break

It has taken me three full days to unwind. Tomorrow I head to Fort Lewis to see my son. After speaking to him this morning, I am anticipating many hours to cook and clean- since he will be flying most of the time I am there. That is OK. I need to do something for him.
My delight is to see an old friend. We traveled together a great deal in my "Saxon" days. We both returned to the classroom. It will be good to compare notes.
Maybe some time away will give me the lift that I need to write again- for something other than my classes. Somehow, I doubt it.
Books for the plane:
The Death and Life of the Great American School System
The Midnight House
The Lion's Gate
I am also taking my ipod - which I have not listened to in months. I think it is time for music again in my life!

School has been consuming me.
OK that is an excuse for not writing here
The weather keeps changing. My worry over some students is at an all time high.
I have nothing more to share.....
